  • Buttercream:
  • 1½ cups butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • 34 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line pans.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together.
  3. Add wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in hot water or coffee.
  5. Divide batter into pans and bake 35 minutes.
  6. Cool layers on wire rack.
  7. Beat butter with cocoa and sugar to make frosting.
  8. Layer cakes and frost completely.
