Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks, beaten
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 (9-inch) pie crust, baked
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed


Instructions

  1. Beat sugar and egg yolks until creamy.
  2. Add cocoa, cornstarch, and salt; blend well.
  3. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.
  4. Cook over medium heat until thickened, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla.
  6. Pour into crust and chill for 2–4 hours.
  7. Top with whipped cream and serve.
