- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup cocoa powder
- ¾ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until a smooth dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
- Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use Dutch-process cocoa for a richer flavor and darker color.
- A quick 15-minute chill helps prevent spreading and enhances texture.
- Underbake slightly for a soft, brownie-like center.
